The error has nothing to do with InstantUpgrade, it rather says that you're using a function which is not available in your PHP version. I tried installing your plugin and lost my entire site (www.saltypaws.co.uk). I followed your directions with doing a backup with your other plugin, then uploads and changing permissions, when I clicked on the update button I got the error messages of permissions fails, BUT the major problem is my wp-contents and wp-adin folders completely dissappeared, do you have any idea what happened? I am currently using version 2.2. I did not know how to install wordpress also because there is a one click installation service provided by my hosting.
